The process
How it works
A bus dealer with a qualified buyer but no suitable unit in stock sends the buyer's requirements to CommercialBuses. We search participating dealer inventory, enforce every must-have, confirm availability with the supplying dealer, and return the matching units to the originating dealer, who then requests an introduction and keeps the buyer relationship. Searching is free. A plan is only needed after we confirm your first match.
Send the spec you can't fill
Type, capacity, budget, ADA, CDL, timeline. Under a minute, and you never have to give us the buyer's name. Sell your own inventory first, always. Send us the spec only when you don't have the bus in stock.
We find it in another dealer's stock
We search participating dealer inventory, honor every must-have you marked, and confirm with the supplying dealer that the unit is still there before we show it to you. Every match shows what it meets, what it misses, and where it sits.
Must-haves are absolute
If your buyer needs a lift, a non-CDL unit, a minimum seat count, or a budget ceiling, a bus that misses it is not a match at any score. We never let a preferred make or a newer year outweigh a failed must-have, because a unit that fails one wastes everyone's afternoon.
Preferences only rank
Preferred make, year, mileage, and distance decide the order of units that already passed every must-have. You still see the ones that miss a preference, with the miss stated on the card, so you can decide whether it matters to this buyer.
When a source doesn't say, a person checks
If a dealer's inventory source never states whether a unit has a lift, we do not guess in either direction. The unit is held back from your results and an operator confirms it with the supplying dealer first. You get a slightly later answer instead of a confident wrong one.
Every unit carries an availability state
A bus being present in a dataset is not the same as a bus being available. We keep the difference visible instead of flattening it into a listing.
- Listed at source
- The unit is in the dealer's latest inventory source. That is a data point, not a promise.
- Recently checked
- The source was refreshed inside the window that dealer told us to expect.
- Confirmed available
- A person at the supplying dealer told us this specific unit is available. Only these can count as a confirmed match.
- Pending confirmation
- We have asked the supplying dealer and are waiting on them.
- Sold or withdrawn
- Sold or withdrawn. Never shown as a match.
- Availability unknown
- We do not have reliable information. We say so rather than imply otherwise.
You keep the buyer and close the deal
Say the word and we connect you to the dealer holding the unit. Your customer stays your customer. We never contact them, and we never go around you to do it.
